School For The Friendless Announcement

Lately, I've been pretty busy. Well, as busy I can be when I'm not watching anime. However, lately I have gotten really into working on one of my projects, which happens to be a visual novel. What makes this one different is that I've had a lot more fun making it than I did the others. I'm not saying I hated making those, but I never got super into them and procrastinated a lot. For some reason, I've just been super motivated for this project and gotten a lot down. Things are going well, so it should definitely be out this summer. At this point, I've been mentioning the project and giving some teases, but now I think it's finally time to actually reveal what it's all about.

The idea behind this visual novel is actually based off on an older one of mine. It went through a couple different versions before I settled on this idea, which stayed in my head for a while. One night after taking a shower, I decided I wanted to work on this project and gathered resources to use that night. Over the next week, I would just write and then I got to the coding. But enough about that. It's time I say what it's all about. The main character, Harold (who can be named whatever you want) ends up going to college (yes, college - even though it may seem like a high school) for people with no friends. When at that school he finds out that they pair students together and those paired together end up becoming roommates, regardless of their genders. So, what would happen if he got paired up with a girl?

There are three girls in the visual novel, each with their own route. One is noticably shorter than the other ones, but it's still a decent length on its own. The other two are about the same length. Each of the routes will have three endings: one romance, one friendship, and one bad ending. There is also one more ending that you'll be able to get if Harold doesn't end up with any of these girls.

Anima Talking About Stealing Wallets

Anima Freeman

The first one we have is Anima Freeman, who likes to cause trouble for others. As for how I came up with her name, I did what I usually do and used Behind The Name. I just searched "free spirit" since she seems like the kind of girl that does whatever she wants, and I thought the name was interesting so I went with it.

Scout Asks Harold If He Wants To Hunt For Ghosts

Scout Segreti

Next, we have the weird and mysterious, Scout Segreti. She's also the most innocent and childlike of the three. For how I came up with her name, I can't remember what lead me to it on Behind The Name. I should also mention that it wasn't To Kill A Mockingbird that made me choose the name. However, it's just a nickname in that story. I liked the name and thought it worked for her.

Vivian Keen

Finally, there's Vivian, the annoying pervert who doesn't really care who is around when she's being inappropriate. Despite her behavior, she does have a bit of a mature side, which usually surprises other. When it comes to her name, I searched all kinds of terms on Behind The Name and eventually got to this name.

When it comes to the choices you have to make, I feel like it can be kind of easy to figure out what you have to choose, but maybe that's partially because I wrote the story, so I'd know anyways? Because of this, I actually made the conditions for getting the romance endings a little strict. So here's some coding talk. If you make a choice that relates to a certain character and/or how you treat them, a point is added. You don't a crazy high amount of these to get on one of their routes. However, you need to get most of the points related to the specific character you're going for to get the romance ending. And if you can't understand what I'm saying, here's wording that should be easier to understand: I made it so the  romance ending is the hardest to get.

On any of these three main routes, Harold will be spending time with all three girls (just one more than the others, obviously). Since he and one of them will be paired together, he'll need to figure out how to get along with her and deal with any problems that come up. Each of these three girls has some kind of issue that for the most part, lead to their personalities being the way that they are, assuming they weren't that way already. In the end, he'll be finishing school with either a best friend or a girlfriend. That's really all I want to say about the visual
novel for now. It shouldn't take too long before it gets here!
